Skytex Primer Pocket Android Tablet for $99
The Skytex primer pocket is a $ 99 Android device with a 4.3-inch display and support for multitouch. It is expected to shipping the week of 15 August, and it is one of the cheapest Android pocketable devices I've seen, it might be a good option if you are looking for a budget for the display of media, surf the Internet, or games.
But while the device caused a little excitement when we first spotted it a few days ago, the company has a few videos on YouTube, which should probably lower your expectations, hopes or published. The primer pocket is certainly an impressive machine due to its low price ... but you get what you pay for.
In this case, that a resistive touch screen, that does not appear to respond to finger input as well as more expensive capacitive touch panels, and a 600 MHz MIPS processor Xburst with a 400MHz DSP for video playback, the mediocre performance features, if it is a matter involves running Android apps.
The good news is that despite the resistive touch technology of hand-held device supports two-finger-touch gestures like pinch to zoom is working. The bad news is that it seems a little stutter in the graphics, if you do pinch to zoom.
This means that the primer pocket video playback seems very well tolerated, and some games seem to run well as well. Although I do not expect the same kind of performance we have come to expect from high-end phones and tablets with fast processors and high-quality displays, this little guy not look all that bad for a $ 99 pocketable media player / internet tablet.
The primer pocket has a 480 x 272 pixel display, 256 MB RAM, 4 GB of memory, and 802.11b WiFi. It has a built-in microphone and speaker, a g-sensor, and a microSD card slot.
While you do not get official Google Android Market Android 2.2 support on this device that spans the Skytex GetJar App Store and install it is easy to change markets such as the Amazon or SlideME AppStore.

New Arnova Android tablet 'Arnova 8 G2'
Archos offers a series of low-cost Android tablets ... Arnova brand and the company offers even cheaper devices with low quality components. But if you are not looking for a bargain the fastest processor or the highest quality video, you could probably no worse than a Arnova tablet, and after an FCC-list it looks like a new model on the road.
The label on the front of the tablet reads "Arnova 8 G2", makes this second-generation version of the Arnova 8 tablet with an 8-inch display. The original had a 800 x 600 resistive touchscreen, Android 2.1 operating system and 802.11b / g WiFi.
Unfortunately, we do not have specifications for the new model yet, but the photos show a tablet with a number of physical buttons. So my guess is the device with Android 2.3 or an older version of the operating system ship. Tablets with Android 3.0 and higher do not use physical buttons for Home, Back, Search, or menu functions.

Samsung to launch a 5.3 inch tablet/phone
There’s a thin line between a smartphone and a tablet these days. And I’m not entirely sure which side the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Q falls on. According to a report out of Korea, Samsung is preparing to launch a device with a 5.3 inch screen that will fall somewhere in between the company’s Galaxy S line of smartphones and Galaxy Tab line of 7 to 10 inch tablets.
According to the report Samsung will introduce at the IFA trade show in Berlin in September.
A device with a 5.3 inch display might be a little large to fit in your pocket, but it’s definitely more portable than the company’s larger tablets — while still offering a bigger screen for watching videos, playing games, or surfing the web.
Unfortunately there’s no information available at the moment about the screen resolution, processor, or operating system — although Android seems like a safe bet.
Samsung has also introduced a line of Galaxy Player devices with 4 and 5 inch screens recently. These devices also blur the lines between phones and tablets by offering many of the features of a phone (including a relatively small size) without the phone capabilities.
But let’s face it — at this point, consumer tablets and smartphones tend to have similar processors, storage capacities, touchscreen technologies, and even operating systems. The only real difference is that phones make phone calls. It’ll be interesting to see whether Samsung positions the Galaxy Q as a phone or a tablet… but my guess is if it makes calls people will call it a phone. If not, then it’s a tablet. Archos sends A70S2 tablet through FCC
You'd think after unveiling a duo of Android 3.1 slates along with a bare-bones model Archos would have washed its hands of tablets for at least a couple months, right? Of course not -- the French company that just won't quit has sent yet another tab through the FCC, this one dubbed the A70S2. And that's about all the outfit let slip on the subject -- at least until August 19th when the confidentiality protection covering the tablet's juiciest details expires.
The company wouldn't throw us a screen size, resolution, or even a confirmation that yes, this thing might well run Android like the bulk of Archos' other tablets. So if this game of "what the heck is this?" doesn't bear fruit, let's take the opportunity to have a (one-sided) heart-to-heart with our favorite French tablet maker. Archos, isn't it about time you added an easy-to-hold, 7-incher with Android 3.1, 250GB of storage, and HDMI-out to the mix? We think it'd fit in perfectly. [Source: engadget.com]

Ocosmos launches OSC9 Oak Trail Windows tablet in Korea
Korean company Ocosmos has a line of Windows tablets and handheld computers aimed at the portable gaming market. Ocosmos first started showing off its tablets at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, but since they’re built around Intel’s Oak Trail platform they weren’t ready for release until Intel officially launched that platform — which the chip maker did this summer.
Now it looks like the first Ocosmos tablet is available in Korea and it could ship internationally soon.
When we first saw the Ocosmos OCS9 at CES it had a 9 inch display — which helped explain the name. But several Korean sites are reporting that the device now has a 10.1 inch capacitive touchscreen display. You know, just like virtually every other tablet hitting the streets this year.
The OCS9 has a 1.5 GHz Intel Atom Z670 Oak Trail processor, 2GB of memory, and a 32GB or 64GB solid state disk. There’s a 1.3MP front-facing camera, a 5MP rear camera, and a 6-axis gyroscopic sensor. The tablet has WiFi baked in, but if you want 3G or 4G wireless data you’ll need an external dongle. The computer runs Windows 7.
Earlier this year Ocosmos was showing off a wireless keyboard and gamepad that could be used with the tablet. There’s no word on whether that accessory still exists.
While the OCS9 looks like a decent little tablet, I’m much more interested in the OCS1 — a 5 inch Windows tablet aimed at gamers with game controllers either built into the sides or available as part of a separate accessory that can be attached to the handheld. There’s no word on a launch date for that model. [Source: liliputing.com]

Dell Peju Tablet Leaked, docking station & all [video]
Dell is working on a 10 inch Windows tablet, but the company has yet to release detailed specs for the device. Now a web site called Dell Peju Insider has published what it says are leaked documents related to the upcoming device.
I’d take the specs with a grain of salt — especially the screen resolution, but there’s a pixel density arms race going on these days, so it’s certainly possible that Dell could launch a 10 inch tablet with a 1080p display.
SPECS:
There’s no word on a release date or price… which isn’t surprising since it’s still not even really clear whether these documents are real. [Source: liliputing.com]

Price Drops: Acer Iconia Tab A500 &Toshiba Thrive
We’re flooded with tablets on the market now, especially in the US where you’ve got your pick of pretty much any tablet that’s been released – and something’s got to give soon. Price drops. Motorola is the first, dropping the price of its 32GB Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi down to $499 – $100 off in both the US and Taiwanese markets, putting it inline with the cheapest Android tablets (for the storage you get) out there. Acer and Toshiba could be next in line with price drops on their tablets.
We’ve heard the Acer price drop rumor before and it’s turned up again. Acer are expected to drop prices in August – if they want to meet their shipping goals for this year. It’s already happened in Japan; the Acer Iconia Tab A500 sells $100 cheaper (relative to the local market) but I think there’s leeway for that given the weak dollar.
Toshiba is also expected to drop prices on the Thrive tablet in Taiwan, in August, despite only just launching. Their highest end 32GB model goes for $579.
Can prices go below $399 for Tegra 2 10-inch 16GB Android tablets at this stage? Digitimes mentioned last month (can’t find the article anymore) that ASUS makes most their profits not from the Eee Pad Transformer tablet itself but from the $150 keyboard dock it sells. [Source: netbooknews.com]

Gigabytes S1080 Windows 7 Tablet Unboxing & Hands-On Video
Gygabyte’s S1080 has now been released in the US for you to snag at your local Sears or ExcaliberPC for $650.
The Gigabyte S1080 is a Windows 7 tablet which is running an Intel Atom N570 dual core processor featuring Windows Home Premium. Features of the S1080 – a “hot touch” button, scrolling toggles, up and down buttons, power button, volume rocker, SD card slot, right and left mouse click, USB 2.0 & 3.0, Ethernet port, mic jack, two speakers, side fan, SIM card slot, VGA, PSU, docking station port and hinges, 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 320 GB hard drive.
Now, the S1080 requires a built in fan because Atom is not ready to go fanless yet. In terms of the the USB 3.0 port, make sure you turn it off to prevent excess battery drain. The price is a bit high at around $650, but is well worth it in terms of the specs and processing power. It’s basically a high-end 10-inch netbok in slate form. If you would like to check out the unboxing of the S1080 watch it here or below as it covers everything when you receive your very own Gigabyte S1080.

HP TouchPad Unboxing, Comparison to iPad & PlayBook
I started up the HD camera to record this unboxing video of the HP TouchPad the sky turned dark and it started to thunder, rain and hail (I'm not even exaggerating a little bit here... check out today's weather in Winnipeg).
With our chief webOS guru Derek Kessler mainly tied up for a few more days with non-PreCentral commitments, I thought I'd take this as an opportunity to drop a few blog posts here on PreCentral (shhh.. don't tell anybody at CrackBerry.com). The truth is, I've been really excited to give the HP TouchPad a try. I was actually in the audience at CES when webOS was officially unveiled to the world by Palm, and have always been a fan of the webOS way of doing things. That said, I was of course pleasantly surprised when RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook showed up with a UI design that looked a lot like webOS. And while I do like the BlackBerry PlayBook, I can't help but wish sometimes that the display was bigger, like the iPad. Put it all together and you'll get why I've been anxious to spend some time on the TouchPad.
Check out the video above to see me go through the ritual unboxing of the HP TouchPad. I take a look at what ships in the box and do some quick hardware comparisons to the Apple iPad 2 and BlackBerry PlayBook. With the unboxing out of the way, I plan to spend tonight getting up to speed on webOS 3 and will probably drop a few more posts here over the next couple of days. I figure a perspective from a newbie wouldn't be a bad thing for some of the people considering webOS for the first time (for a more indepth look be sure to check out our in-depth HP TouchPad Review). And if there's any posts you'd like to see us cover that we haven't yet, be sure to drop them in the comments and we'll get them done.
Be gentle on me webOS nation, it's my first time unboxing one of these babies. Enjoy the show! [Source: precentral.net]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Launches in Germany (August )
Galaxy Tab 8.9, little brother of 10-inch tablet. And while this has informed Samsung PR Sun. Those who are eagerly awaiting launch Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, must still wait a bit. The official date is delayed by a few weeks in mid-August.
GALAXY Tab to 8.9 Telekom also be available. I think mid-August is more likely to vote than number 30, which would mean the end of July. However, it seems a few weeks after GALAXY Tab 10.1 and GALAXY Tab 8.9 to give us. For Amazon, it can already be preordered.
