Last week the makers of the popular SwiftKey keyboard for Android released SwiftKey X – a new and improved app designed for phones and tablets. Today Amazon the smartphone version of SwiftKey X is Amazon’s free app of the day. The tablet keyboard still runs $4.99.
The keyboard’s claim to fame is its text-prediction system. While plenty of apps will try to detect the word you’re typing and show suggestions as you enter text, SwiftKey X takes things to the next level by guessing at the next word you’re likely to enter. This can make entering text on a tiny smartphone screen much, much faster.
SwiftKey X can also read data from your Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, and SMS apps to offer more accurate predictions.
The keyboard has a skinnable user interface so you can choose from light keys with dark letters and numbers, dark keys with light letters, or a skin based on the Google Android Honeycomb user interface with a neon blue glow.
In order to grab SwiftKey X while it’s free you’ll need to install the Amazon Appstore on your phone and then either click the “Get now” button on the Amazon website or within the Appstore app. [Source: mobiputing.com]
